Ingersoll Rand Compressors NIRVANA Air Compressor

NIRVANA’s unique hybrid permanent magnet motor, combined with a frequency inverter, make it the only true variable speed drive compressor. As such, a NIRVANA delivers air at a constant pressure, regardless of demand, with the lowest energy costs.

The NIRVANA package increases or decreases speed and horsepower to produce the exact air flow and pressure required.

Typically, NIRVANA uses about 22 percent less energy than conventional compressors. Adding to the savings, a NIRVANA system requires fewer parts and less maintenance than other compressors.

NIRVANAs have no motor bearings, gears, pulleys, belts or couplings to wear out, leak or replace. Reduced maintenance means lower life-cycle costs and increased reliability.

Rotary Screw Compressor Technology

Air Compressor Rotary Screws are known for their quality and reliability. With a seven-step rotor manufacturing process to enhance profile accuracy and quality, an air compressor rotary screw does more work over a longer period of time than any other rotary compressor in the world. Rotary screw air compressors can run 24 hours a day without overheating.

A rotary air compressor can range in horsepower from as low as 5 to around 600 hp. It can also vary in capacity, from about 9 to 3044 cfm and pressure can reach just over 200 pig.

Another great aspect of rotary screw air compressors is they have a very low leakage rate. If you think a new rotary screw air compressor is out of your budget, there are used air compressors as well.

Reciprocating Air Compressors

A reciprocating screw air compressor works by a piston within a cylinder increasing the pressure of the air by reducing its volume. There are two options: single stage and two stage compressors. What sets this type of compressor apart from the rest is its ability to operate at different levels (versus just on or off).

There are several uses for a reciprocating air compressor. Smaller compressors are typically used in the automotive industry, while larger compressors are used in industrial and petroleum settings. Reciprocating air compressors may not be quite as popular as rotary screw because they are often more costly.

A single-stage compressor discharges air at a pressure of 125 psi. A two-stage reciprocating compressor delivers air pressure to 175 psi. In either case, the recommended operating pressure is 80-90 psi.

Recent Ingersoll-Rand enhancements in cooling design allow our two-stage compressors to operate at a 100 percent duty cycle.

No other reciprocating compressor matches these Ingersoll-Rand machines in efficiency, component strength, quality construction, reliability, low maintenance and service support.

Centrifugal Air Compressor

The centrifugal air compressor is a dynamic compressor, which depends on transfer of energy from a rotating impeller to the air. The rotor accomplishes this by changing the momentum and pressure of the air. This momentum is converted to useful pressure by slowing the air down in a stationary diffuser.

The centrifugal air compressor is oil-free by design.

The oil-lubricated running gear is separated from the air by shaft seals and atmospheric vents.

It is also a continuous duty compressor, with few moving parts, that is particularly suited for high volume applications.
