SMALL PROJECT, BIG DIFFERENCE

Over the years, Air Centers of Florida has completed several compressed disney_specialair and natural gas projects for Walt Disney World.  Whether it was to propel a boat through water or create a special water effect our installation team came through.

Recently Disney asked us to help on a small custom design project.  A project that could make a big difference in maintaining safety.  We all know Disney runs one of the most heavily used monorail systems in the world with over 150,000 daily users.  Since 1971, these monorails have had an unsurpassed safety record.  Safety is not an accident; it requires constant maintenance and checks on their fleet.

For Disney to maintain their large fleet of monorails, it requires a large maintenance facility.  The facility can provide space for up to ten of their Mark VI trains on its upper level.

Disney wanted a more efficient way to the test the air brakes on these large trains.  They asked us if we could design a transportable air compressor that would deliver clean, dry air for brake testing.   We were happy to take on the challenge.

We knew our Ingersoll Rand Horizontal 2475 type 30 Air Compressor would meet the Max Pressure requirements, but the project also required clever engineering to incorporate the SKF Separator Filter Dryer.  Both Disney and Air Center could not tolerate anything but clean, dry air into the braking system.  Once the air package design was completed, we built a custom steel frame with industrial wheels for transporting the compressor to different areas of the shop.  Ingersoll Rand products have outstanding longevity, and we built the frame to last decades. Last but not least, we added a retractable system for both the air hose and electrical cord.

All and all it was a neat little solution for a big facility.   We are proud of our small contribution to the safety of Disney’s Monorail passengers.

We offer expanded service capabilities throughout the state of Florida with offices in Tampa, Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville and Melbourne. Parts stocked locally throughout Florida. New Ingersoll Rand R Series 5-15 hp Compressors

Ingersoll Rand, a global leader in compressed air systems and services, power tools and fluid and material handling equipment, extends its R-Series line of compressed air solutions to include small rotary compressors with V-Shield™ technology to reduce leaks and improve reliability.

New Ingersoll Rand R Series 5-15 hp CompressorsBuilt on a common platform, the new R4-11kW compressors are available in 4-11kW (5-15hp) with flows 8.1cfm – 57.5cfm and pressures up to 200psig on fixed speed units and 145psig on variable speed drives. The R4-11kW models will be available for order in December 2014 through Ingersoll Rand representatives.

“The compact design of the R-Series makes it the ideal workplace compressor with a 20 percent reduction in footprint and sound levels as quiet as a dishwasher,” says Jason Grizzi, channel marketing leader, Ingersoll Rand Compressed Air Systems and Services in North America.

V-Shield™ Technology Makes the R-Series More Reliable

With the application of V-Shield™ technology, the leak path and connections on the R-Series compressors have been reduced by more than 15 percent. V-shield™ technology ensures all critical fittings are secured with o-ring face seals in a method that is nearly free from distortion. Leaks are virtually eliminated and performance isn’t sacrificed, regardless of how many reconnections are made. Leaks are also reduced by the use of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) braided, stainless steel hoses for all oil-carrying lines.

Other advancements on the R4-11kW increase reliability and ease-of-use, including:

  • a totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) motor that has a premium IE3 efficiency
  • a simple design with fewer components, reducing maintenance
  • large, convenient electronic controls and a digital output display to support easier programming and operation

Tri-Voltage Motors Plus Total Air Systems Create a Plug-and-Play Solution

IR-Series fixed speed compressors come standard with tri-voltage motors that adapt to the supply voltage, while variable speed motors come in multiple voltage options, allowing for more flexibility when configuring the system. An improved, leak-free, next-generation airend features an integrated separation system to optimize air and oil separation for peak air quality.

All R-Series units are available as fixed and variable speed units that can be configured with integrated dryers as a Total Air System (TAS). Each TAS unitcomes with high-performance dryers, a three-in-one heat exchanger and an independent fan circuit to consistently generate dry, clean air.

When customers select our Total Air System configuration, the R-Series from Ingersoll Rand is a complete plug-and-play solution that, as a standard offering, generates the cleanest, driest compressed air right out of the box,” adds Grizzi.

Easy-to-Use and Ideal For Compact Workspaces

An innovative new design vertically stacks the drive components of the R4-11kW, reducing the equipment’s footprint by 20 percent and providing easier access to the components when maintenance and service are necessary. To further optimize its performance in limited workspaces, the drive components are mounted on an Ingersoll Rand vibration isolation system reducing noise pollution and vibration.

Do you need a PM service on your air compressor?

With the responsibilities of keeping employees working, productions lines moving, and costs down, no one needs the hassle and the additional worries of maintaining a compressed air equipment.

The typical power cost to continuously run a compressor for one year is more than the original purchase price of the compressor itself. Performing Planned Preventive Maintenance can potentially reduce power consumption, translating into significant dollar savings.
At Air Centers of Florida, we understand compressed air equipment is not just a purchase – it’s a long term investment. Our outstanding Preventative Maintenance programs will save you thousands of dollars each year in energy costs as well as protect your compressor from premature break downs. When your air compressor slows down or stops, so does your business.

Dirt build-up on inlet filters, oil filters and separator elements will cause excessive pressure drops and make a compressor operate outside of its design parameters. This dirt build-up changes compression ratios and leads to:

✔ Excess power consumption
✔ Elevated operating temperatures
✔ Overloading of downstream components
✔ Unnecessary compressor wear & tear

Additionally, our expertly trained Certified Technicians can identify inefficient components, clean intake vents, check and tighten hoses, clean and drain the moisture from your tank, and provide solutions that often have an immediate payback via Reliability and power cost savings. Often we will find solutions that have an energy savings potential of 10 to 30 percent.

In a nutshell, when basic maintenance is bypassed, systems begin to lag and eventually break down. A good preventative maintenance program will allow you to avoid higher costs. Remove the hassle and worry, schedule an appointment with us Air Centers of Florida today.

Ingersoll Rand Releases New Extended Life Rotary Compressor Lubricant

Ingersoll Rand has launched an extended life rotary compressor lubricant, Ultra EL. This advanced synthetic rotary lubricant performs up to 16,000 hours — twice as long as other synthetic rotary lubricants — to increase up-time and reduce life-cycle costs.

Ingersoll Rand Ultra EL is a high-performance lubricant blend that provides advanced cooling technologies that allow air compressors to run cooler and more efficiently — even in high ambient temperature environments. Ultra EL also reduces wear and increases component longevity, increasing overall compressor performance.

Ultra EL is best suited for high-demand, multi-shift applications. When used in demanding environments, Ultra EL helps cut change-out frequency in half which maximizes uptime and lowers the facility’s maintenance needs, disposal costs and environmental impact. Ultra EL also prevents critical compressor components from varnishing which further increases the longevity of the compressed air system. In addition to saving time and money, Ultra EL has a higher flash point (522° F) than most synthetic lubricants.

Ultra EL lubricant is compatible with Ingersoll Rand Ultra Coolant and can be used in most brands of rotary screw compressors,” said Ryan Cook, aftermarket leader – North America, Ingersoll Rand. “This makes it easy and cost-effective for compressor owners to upgrade their lubricant and improve the performance of their existing air systems.”

Ultra EL is available in four standard sizes, including 1 liter, 5 liter, 15 liter and 208 liter drums, to meet various application needs. To learn more about the Ultra EL extended life rotary compressor lubricant from Ingersoll Rand, Call us today! 866 880 4456

Air Centers of Florida Announces our Compressed Natural Gas Product Line

Air Centers of Florida is the exclusive distributor for Ingersoll Rand’s complete lines of Compressed air equipment, Tools, ARO Pumps, and Material handling (Hoists and winches) announces our expansion into Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Refueling.  This is a natural integration for us and we have built upon our years of experience and expertise working with Ingersoll Rand’s products.

To provide the best products and services available, Air Centers of Florida has partnered with both Ingersoll Rand and P. C. McKenzie.   Since 1946, P. C. McKenzie Company has been actively involved in the Natural Gas Industry.  Ingersoll Rand is the leader for CNG equipment for the NGV market.  P.C. Mckenzie’s experience combined with Ingersoll Rand’s equipment make them the ideal partners for us.

The Future is Now

CNG is both the past and the future.  Some even believe that it will play a key role in achieving energy independence.   Several large cities / companies in the United States have made the switch to CNG for their bus and service fleets.  There are a lot more to come.  Everyone that switched has learned that CNG storage offers lower weight, higher energy storage and lower costs – as well as faster refueling.   They also learned that CNG is cleaner, safer and their fleets require less maintenance.

Cleaner

CNG burns clean.  In fact, it is the cleanest burning fuel today.  This translates into less vehicle maintenance and longer engine life.  Another added advantage is dedicated Natural Gas Vehicles have little or no emissions during refueling.   It is a little known fact, but the refueling process for standard gasoline vehicle accounts for over 50% its hydrocarbon emissions.

Less Maintenance

After converting their vehicles to CNG, fleet operators have reduced maintenance costs by as much as 40%. The conversion has increased the intervals between oil changes anywhere from 10,000 to 25,000 additional miles.

More Safe

Several surveys have indicated that NGV’s are as safe if not safer than those powered by other fuels.  In 1992 AGA survey of more than 8,000 vehicles reported that NGV injury rates per vehicle mile traveled were significantly lower (34%) than the rate for gasoline vehicles.  There were no fatalities reported in over 1,800 collisions.

Let us help your business make the transition to Compressed Natural Gas

We are headquartered in Tampa with full service branches in Jacksonville and Orlando with satellite offices throughout Florida.  We promise to offer the most complete line of compressed natural gas products in the industry along with the best service.
